Royal Wedding Hoopla

By now, everyone in the planet knows April 29 is the date Prince William will wed Kate Middleton in what those in the know calls the "wedding of the century".

Intense public scrutiny has been the main staple of the royal romance, but when Prince William proposed to Kate in October while holidaying in Kenya, and popping the question with her late mother Princess Diana's engagement ring, the world only got wind of it a month later when Buckingham Palace announced the engagement.

The wedding itself will be a national bank holiday in Britain, with the wedding service taking place at the grand Westminster Abbey at 11 a.m. It is a Friday, chosen by the couple because it is the Feast Day of St. Catherine, Kate's namesake.

As to the wedding costs, the royals stemmed the speculation that taxpayers will shoulder the bill, saying that the royal family and the Middletons will cover those, thank you. The cost includes reception and the honeymoon, but sources say security and post-wedding cleanups are public services that will be picked up by ordinary Brits.

Post-wedding scenarios? Short of a divorce, that is? Life will resume for everyone, with Kate Middleton probably on to a lot of trips and charity work representing the royal family. And of course, popping out male heirs to the throne.  Busy, busy, busy!

This makes you wonder if, together with her 100 pairs of shoes and a packed designer wardrobe, this junior A-lister is just a bit on the side of spoiled?

The friendly flirts took a private cruise -- albeit with 20 other guests -- on the Seine River. Sources say: "They were very close," and "They really warmed up the room."

People.com seemed to wax poetic over the softly-falling rain that fell on Paris as Jen and Gerald sailed on a luxury yacht. Jennifer Aniston and Gerald Butler was seen to be constantly "hugging and touching each other" on the cruise. And dining on salads, lobsters, and champagne. Wonder if "Moon River" played on board to complete the romantic mood?

The co-stars deny rumor of romance, with the Paris sojourn supposedly a promotional tour for The Bounty Hunter, which will premier on Sunday at Champs-Elysées.

She's 51, but when Sharon Stone posed topless on French magazine Paris Match recently, she showed she could still give younger women a run for their money, according to Fox News.

Many women will probably scream "Unfair!" when they see Sharon Stone pose in nothing but a bondage-style ensemble of corset, leather boots, cage sandals and gloves. Unfair it may be, but this mother of three is still a looker and that "Basic Instinct" bod is still very flash-able and reminiscent of when she famously flashed the cameras in the 1992 film where she co-starred with Michael Douglas.

“I’m a person who feels that if it’s appropriate for the character I’m playing or the mood of the piece, then [posing nude] is no big thing,” the actress said.

That's because Madonna's ex-boyfriend is expecting a small windfall to the tune of around $40,000 for turning over a 17-minute recording of erotic phone messages exchanged by Material Girl Madonna with Albright, caught charmingly in an answering machine, for auction.

The New York Daily News reports that the personal messages are expected to fetch $40,000 in a rock 'n' roll memorabilia auction this August, together with a 15-minute “very personal and intimate video” that Madonna gave Albright, and 21 steamy faxes that they exchanged, burning up the fax wires in those days between 1992 to 1994.

A sample of the naughty messages: "It would be sooooo nice," Madonna wrote, and urging Albright to "send me a fax. I'll be in my bed waiting for you."

An auction rep says of the Madonna memorabilia: “very personal items that we’re showing by appointment only, and that’s all I can say about it."

David Beckham's BFF is Tom Cruise. The New York Daily News gabbed about the book, "The Beckham Experiment," and how an entire chapter of the book has been devoted to the love between the soccer player and the Hollywood actor. Beckham raved about Cruise so much that it almost sounded like he has a huge crush. . . er, a bad case of hero-worship for the latter.

The two met in 2003 and Beckham admitted that Cruise has influenced every important decision he has made since then. They have the same agency, the same PR firm, and when the Beckham family moved to L.A., they relocated at Tom and Katie's neighborhood.

The L.A. Galaxy job, Tom had a say on that. Beckham's physical therapist, Tom recommended that. Even the naming of their third son, Cruz, was influenced by Tom Cruise. How cozy!

In fact, according to Beckham, the only thing they do not share is Tom's love of scientology. Says he: "It's something I respect, because Tom's explained to me and Victoria what it's all about. But he's never turned around and said, 'That is what you should be doing,' because he would never do that. He and Katie have their beliefs ... but me and Victoria have also got our own."

The anonymous collector is probably a fan. Glasgow artist Peter Howson's painting of pop star Madonna -- nude -- with former husband Guy Ritchie has been sold to a buyer outside Scotland, who bought the oil painting way above its reserve price of $24,000 required by McTear's Auctioneers in Glasgow, according to BBC.

The painting "Madonna & Guy" was made in 2005 and is one of many portraits of the pop star in varying states of undress. It failed to sell at an auction last month, but nailed the sale this month for an "excellent price", considering that Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie divorced last November after an 8-year marriage.

The oil painting depicts two figures in the nude, with the female figure reclining and the male figure resting his hand on her thigh. No insult to the artist, but if he called this art work "Jon and Kate", my art-idiot self will probably believe him.
