Mackenzie Hamilton Editorial for China Vogue, January 2008

She did fairly well at New York Fashion Week last year (Spring/Summer 2009) but did not do the recent Fall/Winter 2009 shows. So does anyone know what she's been up to lately?

Han Jin Editorial for China Vogue, January 2008

OMG, I am sooooo in love with this editorial. Han Jin really ROCKS in these photos, especially photos #1, 2, 5, 7, 9 and 10. Photo #5 was used in her Spring/Summer 2009 show cards.

Again, BRAVO to China Vogue for using a Korean model. Korean Vogue needs to step up to the plate and include other Asian models in their pages. If you want your magazine to have an international appeal, you need to be more inclusive. Yeah, I know...we don't read Korean but we still want to see the photos.

Yoon Jin Wook Editorial for Korea Esquire, January 2008

Here is another editorial with Yoon Jin Wook for Korea Esquire Magazine, January 2008. Initially, I thought it was an American publication because of the huge English texts in the photos. It was only later when I noticed the small Korean text at the bottom that it was a Korean publication.

Nonetheless, I like the mix media of photographs and comic book drawings in this editorial. It's rare to see both these media mixed so successfully. I love everything about this editorial except for the hair in photos #3 and #5. At least he didn't have that Tina Turner hair that is so popular among Korean pop stars today.

Yoon Jin Wook Editorial for Korea Harper's Bazaar, January 2008

I received a couple of requests for more photos of Korean model, Yoon Jin Wook who walked for Lanvin and Bottega Veneta at the Spring/Summer 2009 Menswear show in Milan recently. Since Jin Wook has not signed with a US modeling agency yet, I had very little information to work with.

Then a reader (ChineseModels) directed me to his Korean modeling agency website, DCM Models where there are lots of high quality scans. But most of the information on the site was in Korean, which I don't understand. Anyway, after hours of trial and error, I was able to go through most of the photos and get this editorial (and a couple more to be posted in the next couple of days) for you, my dear readers.

Liu Dan in Nordstrom Catalog, January 2008

This is Liu Dan's third appearance in a Nordstrom's catalog this year. The company must really love her. But then again, what's not to love -- she's gorgeous and versatile. The first two photos are spectacular; the rest are above average catalog stuff.

Catalog shoots are the bread and butter of most working models. They pay really well, sometimes as much as $3,000/day for brands like JCrew and Ann Taylor or stores like Macys and Nordstrom. In addition, there are so many catalog shoots that a successful catalog model can book a job almost every month. Magazine covers and editorials, on the other hand, are great for recognition and exposure but they rarely pay more than $300/day, even for top-notch magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

Juliana Imai Editorial and Magazine Cover for China Vogue, January 2008

I know Juliana Imai has been around since S/S 2005 (that a long time in modeling years) and she has such an interesting look. She's half-Japanese/half-Brazilian and in some editorials, she looks completely Asian. Wish she would get more high profile work.
